5 Minute Makeup Guide

5 minute makeup, quick makeup tips, how to apply foundation

There are perhaps only three essential items a girl should always have in her makeup bag. With these items, she can present a fresh face to the world in under five minutes, or even less, depending on how much coverage she needs. This particular writer attests to that fact; I regularly put on my makeup in under 5 minutes sitting in the car waiting for it to warm up. Bear in mind though, that this does not include time to cleanse, tone and moisturise your face. That, perhaps, should be done before leaving the house.

You'll need:

Powder foundation

Blush brush and blusher

Lip gloss

1. Using a foundation sponge, apply the foundation onto your face in long, quick strokes. Work your way from top to bottom; first spread the foundation on your forehead, then down your nose, then the sides of your face, your cheeks, and finally over your lip area. When applying, pay attention to the texture of your foundation. Preferably, "rub" the foundation over your skin until you can't see the "powder" outline. When you look at your face closely in the mirror, you should not be able to see an "outline" or any powder on your face, but your skin should be smooth, and if you are using a foundation lighter than your skin colour, your face should be lighter too. Remember to put some foundation on your neck as well.

2. Step back from the mirror and examine your reflection from afar. If you're satisfied with the eveness of your foundation, take your blusher brush and swipe it lightly across the blusher. Now, smile widely and brush your cheeks very lightly near the top. Two swipes are more than enough to give your face a hint of a rosy colour.

3. Now that you're done with your cheeks, it's time to put on some gloss! Open your mouth wide and apply the gloss to your lips. Once you're done, sit back and smile. Your lip gloss should be even on your lips.

And you're done! Simple makeup, done in just 5 minutes!

PS: If you're wearing glasses, you may want to apply more foundation on the areas directly under your eyes and on your eyelid as glasses tend to cast a shadows on your eyes, making them darker than they actually are.
